Connecting Capital with Impact in Healthcare Innovation
We are AioT Health—Artificial Intelligence of Things in Healthcare - a purpose-built, physician-backed health technology fund connecting capital with exponential technologies. We invest in early-stage companies that use digital technology and machine learning as tools to deliver Personalized Medicine
Thesis
Previous improvements in healthcare have been derived by understanding how the “average” individual in a cohort responds to treatment. In the future, nuance will be added to our layer of knowledge through the delivery of Personalized Medicine. Digital technology and Machine Learning are 2 tools that help facilitate Personalized Medicine.
Digital technology is powerful in that can improve outcomes in healthcare simply through patient engagement. We are very interested in the power of biofeedback to improve healthcare outcomes without requiring new operations and drugs. The ability of wearable technology to easily track longitudinal data points opens up new metrics and treatment avenues for ongoing improvement in healthcare outcomes. From an investment point of view, Heathtech is an attractive opportunity, given that digital technology has already been validated in diverse fields such as communication, finance, retail and entertainment. Healthcare has the opportunity to leverage learnings and not have to re-invent the wheel. With AIoT Health’s experience at the front lines of healthcare, we can identify the niches and crevices where digital technology can have clinically meaningful impact beyond mere “nice to have” technology.
Artificial intelligence today is in its infancy, akin to where the internet was in the early 1990s. Someday, all jobs will be augmented by AI. We aim to be part of the evolution and help shape the pathway of how machine learning is applied in healthcare to solve the challenges that will improve patient outcomes.
Why Now?
Exponential increases in power of technology
Availability of affordable computing power
Adoption of digital technologies outside of medicine
High resolution digital sensors
Lean startup style medical companies
A new generation of digitally aware doctors
The 4th industrial revolution is upon us, and with it come technologies that fuse the physical, digital and biological worlds. These technologies have put the realm of medicine at an inflection point due to a confluence of factors.
The use of technology in medicine is about to change by the introduction of digital health, machine learning, VR/AR, 3D printing, genomics, metabolomics, technologies that unlock the understanding of the brain, immuno-oncology and age-reversal therapies. These are the futuristic technologies that we seek to propel into the future.
Our Value Proposition
Our secret sauce is the ability to speak the languages of medicine, finance and business. We combine mental models gained from experience in the diverse disciplines of medicine, science, value investing, entrepreneurship and business to bring a unique value proposition to venture capital.
“Most problems are multidimensional, and thus having more lenses often offers significant help with the problems we are facing”
Our Values
Our Portfolio
Wearable “smart” patch that aims to provide both actionable hemodynamic data (vital signs & flow parameters) and lab biomarkers (hemoglobin and potassium) in noninvasive fashion. Currently being used in dialysis patients to prevent complications resulting in hospital admission.. Wirelessly connected from home to EMR. Additional verticals established in Dept of Defence and High Performance Sports. (Formerly GraftWorx- rebranded as Alio in Oct 2020)
Software platform that enables data-driven precision medicine by first using natural language processing to collect all published clinical or molecular data on drugs and then knowledge processing algorithms to develop relationships between pieces of data. Each piece of evidence collected further augments other pieces within the treasure box. By successfully revealing the relationship that drugs have between genotype, phenotype, disease and treatment responses, it will contribute to Personalized Medicine.
SANCTUARY AI has a bold vision combining Artificial General Intelligence & Robotics to build “intelligent machines” that can perform economically valuable tasks. AioT Health invested in the Seed and Series A Rounds
ARCASCOPE applies algorithms to data from wearables to determine personalized circadian rhythms in order to optimize sleep wake schedules. Arcascope is at the forefront of chronomedicine, where impact of therapies can be improved by synchronizing with circadian rhythms
Innovere Medical aims to further discovery of the workings of the human brain by leveraging the use of MRI technology. Innovere delivers ‘market ready’ hardware combined with a vision for a software platform that could facilitate the future exploration of brain connectivity. The company’s lead product, Innovision, provides an immersive audio-visual experience allowing patients to watch YouTube/Netflix type content during an MRI exam.
Combines Robotics, Neuroscience, Exoskeleton and Machine Learning to build a gait assist device that permits neurodevelopmentally delayed children to ambulate, often for the first time. The psychological impact of a child being able to walk are obvious. The medical benefits of weight bearing and walking are many. Devices are outfitted with sensors at multiple joints allowing the company to continuously build a world class database of gait assistance that enables Trexo’s vision to build a device for the elderly population who need assistance with walking.
Probius has a point of care device that uses Quantum Electrochemical Spectroscopy & ML techniques to detect biomarkers based on vibrational signatures. The company builds a propriety library of digital twin biomarkers. Multiscale information from one sample permits knowledge of the dark matter in biology which is key to deep knowledge and hypothesis development.
